Recruiting

Anyone have suggestions for recruiting private duty aides (HHA, CHA) other than the most common sites such as Indeed and Craigslist?

    Local nursing schools.
  • Also try nursing programs at colleges
  • Thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone have experience working with nursing schools/colleges? I wasn't sure if there is a fee to partner with them or get on a list for recent grads. Other issue would be finding someone with a few years of experience.

We've found online recruiting to be quite expensive with not a great return. Been a challenge managing overtime when we cannot find good quality caregivers for our clients.

Our schools will post jobs on their info boards for free. Some of them have job fairs to participate in. Oftentimes the students are CNA's going on for there license and do have experience. We have also gotten exposure by hosting student for clinical rotations. Best of luck.
  • Tina ... this is the biggest challenge facing growing home care companies.
We all it The Caregiver Recruiting and Retention Crisis.

To Conquer the Crisis, we are forming a Caregiver Quality Mastermind Group
where non-competing companies can come together virtually via video
conference to share ideas, solve recruiting and retention problems, and
    support one another.

We actually have two groups; one for independent companies and one for
    franchises. Take a look.

I don't know where you are located, so I don't know if we have someone from
your local market or not. We only invite one company per local market to
    participate.

Let me know if you have questions.

    Best regards,

  • Great suggestion, Jan ... Four Year Schools of Nursing came out on top of
our list of best places to find high quality applicants.

Last year, we published a free research report on Caregiver Recruiting and
Retention. It is sponsored by Home Trak. Here's a link to download the
    report:

  • Tina ... download the Sponsored Research Report on Caregiver Recruiting and
Retention sponsored by Home Trak. There's a whole section on recruiting at
schools of nursing. We have learned from those who use this method that you
need to develop a relationship with the school faculty and earn the
opportunity to speak to their classes. Then you can offer students work as
caregivers while they are finishing their nursing degrees.

The feedback from company owners who have used this recruiting approach is
that nursing students make great caregivers, but you have to work around
their school schedules and they will only be with you for as long as they
are in school. However, after they graduate they make good referral
    sources.
